Due of the history of Leicestershire  in the field of agriculture it is also well known for it's contributions to the typical English food: For example, the Blue Stilton (or Stilton), Red Leicester Cheese and Pork Pie, one with pork and jelly-filled puff pastry produced in Leicestershire.  In Melton Mowbray annually by East Midlands Food and Drink Festival will take place this, the largest regional food fair in England is considered.
What great role that nutrition plays in the region, can be seen by the diversity of the Leicestershire and Rutland Restaurant Awards recognize to be awarded annually.  So it does include an award for the restaurant of the year, the best Asian restaurant, the best service, best wine list, the best value for money and so on. There is also a Food and Drink Newsletter, the quarterly County Council is published by the Leicestershire.
