East Midlands airport is in the centre of the country, surrounded by the city of Nottingham, Deby and Leicester. The airport was offically opened back in 1965 by Prince Philip. It was not a great success financially at the start but was later bought by the
NAtional Express Group who recognised the potentional of the airport. Over the next 8 years they invested £77million on the airport infrastructure and passenger facilities. In 2000 the
National Express Group sold the airport to the Manchester Airport Group for £241million. The airport has continued to prosper since and 2003 saw a staggering 2.38 million passengers pass through the gates.
Getting there by Car
Nottingham East Midlands Airport is in the centre of the country, surrounded by the cities of Nottingham, Derby and Leicester. The Airport is easily accessible from all parts of the UK, either by road or by public transport. Take junction 23a or 24 from the M1 and the airport is clearly signposted. If travelling on the M42, continue until it turns into the A42 and follow airport signs

Taxis operated by Checker Cars, are available from the Taxi Office, outside the Arrivals Area, 24 hours a day.
Getting there by Bus / Coach
National Express Airport service 240 offers direct connections daily to and from Nottingham East Midlands Airport to Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield, Chesterfield. Luton, Heathrow and Gatwick, allowing onward connections throughout the UK.
Other services include Air-Line shuttle providing a direct link between the Airport and Loughborough and Derby railway and bus stations; Rainbow 5 linking Nottingham to Loughborough, via airport and Skylink, a frequent service running half hourly from Nottingham City Centre to the Airport, calling at the Train Station, Clifton and then direct to the Airport. Getting there by Train
Loughborough, Long Eaton, Nottingham and Derby stations are all located a short bus or taxi ride from the airport. All stations are served by the main InterCity trains which are operated by Midland Mainline and Central Trains. There are regular buses to all stations. Express Parking
Express parking at East Midlands is ideal for short stays of up to 12 hours. This car parking option should be used for dropping off and picking up passengers or for day trips. The car park is located opposite the terminal and has a convenient credit card payment system.
Executive Parking
East Midlands airport executive car parking is suitable for mid stays, up to 4 days. These car parks are within walking distance of the terminal building but there is also a free shuttle bus service for your convenience. Mid stay parking does not need to be booked in advance but there are some pre book spaces available, which offer the best value for money.
Economy Parking
This is the best option for long stays of 5 days or more and ideal for holiday parking. The car park is a short journey fom the terminal building but there is a shuttle bus to transport passengers. It is advisable to leave extra time for this transfer. For the best prices for long stay parking it is recommended that you book in advance.
