Liverpool Airport is located nine miles from liverpool city centre close to the A561. The airport was officially opened in 1933, three years after the first scheduled flight from Liverpool. Today Liverpool is the second busiest north-west airport and handles over 3 million passengers a year. You can fly to over 33 UK and European destinations from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Getting there by Car / Taxi
The airport is closely connected to the M6 via the M56 and the M62, from which the airport is signposted. The best route from the motorways is to head for the A561, and then down Speke Hall Avenue, where the airport is situated. There is a taxi rank at the front of the terminal building. Taxis can also be booked in advance.
Getting there by Bus / Coach
Coaches into Liverpool city centre from all over the UK are run by National Express. Contact National Express for details of times and routes. The number 500 bus is a regular shuttle between the airport and Liverpool city centre, although there are other services. For more information on other bus services contact Merseytravel.
Getting there by Train
There are several services to Hunt's Cross (the nearest station to the airport) from Liverpool and Manchester. Passengers wishing to travel to or from another destination by train should change at Liverpool or Manchester. Hunt's Cross station is linked to the airport by regular Airlink bus services. - Bureau de change - four of these are run by Travelex and can be found in the main concourse opposite easyjet check in, level 3 by the escalator, the baggage reclaim hall and on the arrivals concourse.
- Multi-faith prayer room - located on the third floor
- Airport Information - located on the main concourse
- Tourist information - located next to the airport information desk on the main concourse
- Conference suites are available for hire. These include catering and presentation facilities.
- Executive lounge - serves a range of complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Children are allowed into this lounge, as long as they are controlled.
- A nail sanctuary can be found on the third floor, where nail treatments and massages can be had.
Shopping
- Shops before security include WH Smith, Sock Shop, TS Electronics and The Soft Shoe Co.
- Shops after security include WH Smith, Sports Co, Boots, Dabs and Alpha Retail (duty free).
Eating
- A wide range of hot and cold drinks and snacks can be purchased in the Food Village, O'Briens and Whistlestop.
- Fast food (burgers etc) can be purchased in Burger King
- Snacks and alcoholic drinks can be bought in the Estuary Bar and the Daytripper Bar.
Disabled
- An ambulift is available on request for assisting disabled passengers with boarding and alighting from the aircraft.
- Wheelchairs are also available on request.
- Reserved disabled parking is available for badge holders.
- Unisex disabled toilets are located on the ground and first floors. Lifts to the first floor will help to access these.
- Low level telephones are also available.
Children
An amusement arcade (Serendipity Games) can be found in the terminal building, and has a range of games catering for all ages.

Short Stay
Short stay parking is the best option when dropping off or picking up visitors.
- Under 20 minutes parking is free.
- Parking for up to 1 hour £2.30.
Long Stay
Long stay airport parking is available for visitors who wish to leave their vehicle for 3 days or more. Booking is advisable to guarantee availability.
Booking in advance is highly reccommended to ensure availability.
